Customlight Introduces "The Robot"

We wont show you a photo of what the building used to look like as people would run screaming into the streets. This is the new paint job - and our new friendly robot manufactured from galvanised sheet metal and powder coated here in our factory. It's always difficult to know what approach to take especially when you are an engineering company with niche products covering such a huge range. We are located on a main road - and now we are getting a lot more attention - something to think about for all types of industry during tough times.

Have a Laugh !!!

I'm not sure about this picture below - have a close look at the car on the bottom - it's a very expensive Ferrari - so could it be a domestic dispute, a genuine accident, swine flu rage ? And the photo above - well it has been quite cold in Christchurch.

Sterigel Hand Sanitiser winning the fight against germs...

The most popular hand steriliser on the market "Sterigel" has climbed in popularity with a real focus on staying healthy as we see illness strike many people. Hospitals across New Zealand have been swift to make Sterigel more available to patients, and visitors alike, and now we are seeing this product appearing on the end of every bed across the country.Customlight was fortunate enough to be able to design a suitable bracket to assist with this project - so next time you are in the local hospital - hopefully only visiting - you will see one of our products being the bracket - and dont forget to try the Sterigel supplied by New Zealand Medical & Scientific Ltd (freephone 0508 634103).

Westfields Mall Riccarton Provides a challenge...

Have a look at the photos from a recent job in Riccarton Mall Christchurch - the challenge was designing a fitting strong enough to take the weight of these magnificant lights. The angle of the atrium roof meant the device needed to be able to swing - answer - a modified ball joint. I think you will agree the end result looks amazing - if you happen to be in the mall head upstairs to the new extension at the Eastern end - and look up !

Access Hatches

This is the type of niche product that is suprisingly common - after all every building has an access hatch somewhere - some have dozens. This latest order was made in our factory and powder coated in the Orica Colour Artic White. These are destined to be fitted at St Georges Hospital which is currently undergoing extensions.

Engineering Trivia

Whenever a fly lands on an ocean liner of about 35000 tons, the ship tends to sink lower in the water by one tenth the thickness of an atom which can be measured by means of an electrostatic capacity meter. If the fly lands on a handrail 15 metres from the center line of the ship, the resulting downward deflection of the ship on the same side will be 20 times greater - unless the ship is effectively stabilised. In fact, it is not even necessary for the fly to to touch the ship at all. If it merely hovers just above the deck, the vertical pressure of the airstream generated by it's wings will have practically the same effect on the vessel. Sigh... what type of people work this stuff out.... and why?
